24 Season 7Before Season 7 there was a two-hour TV movie on that bridged the gap between Season 6 and 7 - 24:Redemption.

The storyline takes place during Inauguration Day for the next U.S. President, Allison Taylor, and is shot partially in South Africa.

Jack is a soul in a bad way and has been moving from place to place trying to find somewhere he can be at peace," says co-executive producer, Manny Coto. "But he winds up in Africa in the middle of a military coup." Meanwhile, Bauer is subpoenaed to appear before the Senate hearing while in Africa, but doesn't want to go. 24:Redemption takes place approximately 3 years and 9 months after Season 6.

Season 7 starts with the FBI pulling Jack Bauer from a Senate hearing because an old friend of Jack's may be planning terror, while the President calls for military action in Africa.

A device that overrides the nation's homeland systems falls into enemy hands while the President's husband investigates his son's recent death. Conspiracy may be deep within the President's administration, her dead son may not have killed himself, and a colleague Jack thought was dead has turned terrorist: how are these surprises related?

The President defies murderous demands while Jack and CTU colleagues unearth an FBI agent and plant a wire on a deposed prime minister. Intelligence suggests another attack is imminent, so Jack goes to the White House to interrogate a Senator's chief of staff. TO AVOID SPIOLERS WE WON’T DETAIL THE REST OF THE SEASON 7 PLOT.
